Diploma Supplement
The Diploma Supplement is a document which contains additional information on diplomas earned by students in higher education. It provides a clear, internationally comparable description of the course of study.
The Diploma Supplement is being issued in a widely spoken European language, given automatically and free of charge to every student upon graduation.
The Diploma Supplement has been modelled closely on the document developed by the European Commission, the Council of Europe and UNESCO/CEPES. The aim is to provide sufficient independent data to facilitate international comparison of university courses, to make it easier to gain appropriate professional and academic recognition of qualifications and hence to facilitate access to higher education and to lifelong learning.
The diploma supplement describes the type, level, context, content and status of a degree course which has been successfully completed by the holder of the degree certificate.
The supplement is divided into eight sections: Information identifying the holder of the qualification / Information identifying the qualification / Information on the level of the qualification / Information on the contents and results gained / Information on the function of the qualification / Additional information / Certification of the supplement / Information on the Austrian higher education system
The diploma supplement is no substitute for a CV or the original degree certificate and does not constitute any guarantee of automatic recognition of a completed course.
