Department of Research and Development

The Research Department exists to support research work at the Private University college of Education of the Diocese of Linz by providing information, consultancy services, coordination and provision of resources for research projects. It is responsible for the organisation of student courses in initial teacher training as well as in-service research courses teaching staff.

 

Research at the Private University College of Education of the Diocese of Linz

The Private University College of Education of the Diocese of Linz is committed to creating and teaching a range of academic courses. Quality is our watchword with respect to both teaching and research. We ensure that research and teaching are interlinked (and that the results of our research can be applied in practice) and we encourage an independent, creative, and reflective approach in all departments. In this respect we ensure that our students are also prepared to collaborate in, and carry out their own research projects.

In accordance with the holistic principles of education laid down in our mission statement our research and development projects always aim to develop not only cognitive competencies but also aspects of the personality.

We encourage the exchange of ideas and cooperation in scientific and academic research and development projects particularly on a European, but also on a worldwide level, thus ensuring that educational research continues to be a dialogical process. Our work needs to be continually re-oriented and is a contribution to solidarity in our society.

 

Aims

The Research Department is a centre for all students and teachers involved in research and development projects. Participants have the opportunity to take part in academic discussion of the many questions on the subject of what conditions are necessary to allow children and people working in the field of education to develop to their full potential.

 

  • promoting an academic approach to work in teacher training 
  • involving students in work on current research questions in the field of education
  • support for research and development
  • support in planning and conducting research and development projects (eg bachelor theses)
