"L´Europe ensemble" – a multi-media language project (Socrates Lingua 2)

"L’Europe ensemble" is a teaching programme providing an introduction to eight European languages. It was designed within the framework of the European Socrates Lingua 2 Programme and was awarded the European label for innovative language projects 2006. The programme is designed to introduce 10-15 year olds to French, Italian, Portuguese, Rumanian, Spanish, German, English and Swedish.

The main aim of the project "L´Europe Ensemble" is to focus on life and institutions and culture. The goal is for young people to develop a wider understanding of cultural and linguistic differences.

"L’Europe Ensemble" is principally aimed at learners, teachers, foreign language assistants and language trainers in all the countries involved. But is also for anyone from other countries wishing to learn about the language and cultures of the participating countries.

The contents of "L´Europe ensemble"

The teaching materials follow the levels A1, A2 and B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. (CEFR).

A series of eight teaching handbooks with an accompanying CD-ROM, which contains sound-, visual- and written materials providing teachers, language assistants and language trainers with lessons and a wide variety of multimedia materials in eight languages. These follow the recommendations of the Common European Framework of Reference for Langauages and are action-oriented. The language skills obtained enable the learner to perform tasks in the target language. Each teaching handbook consists of six units with a cultural focus and for each level a series of lessons offers language activities based on authentic resource materials.

A free learner's multilingual website "Tour d´Europe en 80 jours" is available and is designed for independent work or in groups, at home or in the classroom. The user is invited to discover (level A1) and reinforce (levels A2 and B1) the languages of the countries he has been through and widen his horizons towards other cultures on his virtual journey through Europe.
