L063 - Virtual Tea Time · Teachers' think tank - Current Affairs and Esl Tools
This online series provides a virtual room for teachers to speak English, discuss research on ESL-teaching, exchange experiences, reflect on challenges and get tips and tricks for the classroom.
There is always a topic of interest and material to try out in class. Occasional surprise guests add an extra kick to the sessions.
Participants are also welcome to join only one or two of the meetings. Flexible participation is fine, too, even dates might (have to) be adapted.
If you like speaking English and communicating with and learning from interesting colleagues, join us.

Y111 - NILE meets PHDL: Improving Writing Skills with Generative AI · Providing targeted feedback in ELT
This webinar explores how teachers can develop learners’ writing skills using AI-generated formative feedback and AI tools for criterion-referenced summative feedback. It begins with participants’ experiences and challenges using AI in ELT, followed by brief input on AI’s role in writing development. We will address AI literacy, digital literacy, and ethical use. Participants will learn to set up and assess writing tasks on various AI platforms, use a combined human/AI feedback approach to support learner reflection, and evaluate which tools best fit their own contexts.

L119 - Fandom in the ELT Classroom · Practical media-based approaches to boost learner engagement
Harry Potter, Lego, Barbie, Heartstopper, Minecraft, Spiderman, or vampire romances – most Austrian pupils are fans of some kind of English-language popular media. Drawing on these existing fandoms helps teachers engage students with authentic input.
This workshop offers practical techniques for using the digital content students already enjoy and create, from memes and GIFs to BookTok clips, TikTok duets, fanfiction, and fan art. It is accessible to colleagues who are not digital natives and have limited social media experience.
