Opting for a career as a secondary school teacher - A training course with perspectives
In future, all pupils aged between 10 and 18/19 will be taught by teachers trained in the same system.
From the academic year 2016/17, nine University Colleges in Upper Austria and Salzburg, which have formed a regional association under the title of Österreich Mitte, will jointly offer QTS courses for secondary school, i.e., new secondary school, pre-vocatinal school, special needs school, general and vocational secondary school (general subjects).
Helping to shape society
Teaching is an attractive, varied and at the same time demanding career. Providing guidance for children and young people along their journey through life and education, offering them orientation in a complex society, and encouraging them to play their part in shaping it, requires a multiplicity of competences.
Attainment of a Bachelor's and Master's degree constitutes the basis for employment at
- New secondary schools
- Grammar schools
- Vocational middle and secondary schools (commercial colleges, commercial schools, higher secondary schools for tourism, catering or business management)
The university colleges safeguard the professional environment for practice-related and academic courses.
After attaining the Master's degree, students can choose to go on to university and study for a doctorate.
